Feb 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 8 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Liaoning province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Sichuan province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 38 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 515 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 3.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,921 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,723 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 198 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,824 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,734 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 454 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 2 suspected cases. 975,756 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,233 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 13 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 18 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 11 imported cases) and 2 (imported cases) became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 331 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 282 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 19, 11,822 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,833 in Hong Kong (197 had died and 10,329 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 941 in Taiwan (9 had died and 888 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
