Feb 23: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 10 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 9 in Guangdong province and 1 in Shanxi province), no new cases of suspected infections, and no deaths. 37 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 250 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Feb 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,949 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,775 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 174 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 1 suspected case.

As of 24:00 on Feb 22, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,852 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,842 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 374 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 1 suspected case. 976,922 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,002 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 22, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 16 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 14 imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Feb 22, 302 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 266 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 22, 11,874 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,884 in Hong Kong (197 had died and 10,404 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 942 in Taiwan (9 had died and 893 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
