Feb 25: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 7 new cases of confirmed infections (all were imported cases, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Shandong province, 1 in Guangdong province and 1 in Sichuan province), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 96 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 292 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases remained unchanged.

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 4,968 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 4,794 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 174 confirmed cases (no cases in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, the National Health Commission had received reports of 89,871 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 84,954 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 281 confirmed cases (including 1 case in serious condition) and 4 suspected cases. 977,508 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 8,098 were still under medical observation.

On Feb 24, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 9 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 20 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (including 13 imported cases) and 1 (imported case) became a confirmed case. As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 279 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 256 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Feb 24, 11,907 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 10,913 in Hong Kong (198 had died and 10,461 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 48 in Macao (47 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 946 in Taiwan (9 had died and 899 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
