Jan 20: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 66 new cases of confirmed infections (23 imported cases, 14 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Zhejiang province, 3 in Guangdong province, 2 in Yunnan province and 1 in Beijing municipality, including 3 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, all in Zhejiang; 43 indigenous cases, 24 in Henan province including 19 in Anyang, 4 in Xuchang and 1 in Zhengzhou, 14 in Jinnan district, Tianjin municipality, 3 in Beijing including 2 in Fengtai district and 1 in Chaoyang district and 2 in Zhuhai, Guangdong, including 7 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 6 in Tianjin and 1 in Beijing), 3 new cases of suspected infections (all were imported cases in Shanghai), and no deaths. 223 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 3,623 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases increased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 12,223 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 10,979 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 1,244 confirmed cases (without cases in serious condition) and 10 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, the National Health Commission had received reports of 105,411 confirmed cases and 4,636 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 97,478 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 3,297 confirmed cases (including 16 cases in serious condition) and 10 suspected cases. 1,493,645 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 57,442 were still under medical observation.

On Jan 19, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 28 new asymptomatic cases (26 imported cases; 2 indigenous cases, both in Zhuhai, Guangdong). 30 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and 10 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (3 were imported cases). As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 755 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 710 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Jan 19, 30,964 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 12,880 in Hong Kong (213 had died and 12,474 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 79 in Macao (77 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 18,005 in Taiwan (851 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
