June 22: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 31 new cases of confirmed infections (21 imported cases, 7 in Guangdong province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 4 in Fujian province, 3 in Shaanxi province, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region and 1 in Zhejiang province, including 5 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 2 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Fujian province and 1 in Guangdong province; 10 indigenous cases, 4 in Beijing municipality, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region  and 1 in Guangdong province), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections. 

On June 21, 78 patients were released from hospital after being cured (17 imported cases; 61 indigenous cases, 39 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 19 in Beijing municipality and 3 in Shanghai municipality). 4,971 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on June 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 19,134 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,876 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 258 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on June 21, the National Health Commission had received reports of 225,349 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 219,361 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 762 confirmed cases (including 6 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,225,026 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 106,326 were still under medical observation.

On June 21, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 95 new asymptomatic cases (83 imported cases; 12 indigenous cases, 4 in Liaoning province, 4 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Beijing municipality and 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 

On June 21, 169 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (71 imported cases; 98 indigenous cases, 38 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 35 in Shanghai municipality, 7 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Sichuan province, 3 in Jilin province, 3 in Zhejiang province, 2 in Shandong province, 2 in Yunnan province, 1 in Liaoning province and 1 in Jiangxi province). 5 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (all were imported cases). As of 24:00 on June 21, 1,370 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 539 imported cases).  

As of 24:00 on June 21, 3,722,385 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 335,226 in Hong Kong (9,396 had died and 63,312 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 98 in Macao (83 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 3,387,061 in Taiwan (5,480 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
