The main structure of Hengqin's "second-tier" channels finished

On September 15, the main structure of the Hengqin "second-tier" customs surveillance zones were announced to be completed, including the Hengqin Bridge, Hengqin Tunnel, Deep Well Passage, and Hengqin Wharf. The supporting information technology project is under construction and will be finished by December 2022.

Last September, China issued a general plan for building a Guangdong-Macao in-depth cooperation zone in Hengqin. Later, the administrative organizations of the Zone were inaugurated. In the past 12 months, progress has been achieved in the Zone. The second-tier customs surveillance zones project is among them.

The "second-tier" customs surveillance zones project, which started on December 6, 2021, now includes seven customs surveillance zones at five channels. The sites are located at Hengqin Bridge, Hengqin Tunnel, Deep Well Passage, Hengqin Wharf, Hengqin North Station on the Guangzhou-Zhuhai Urban Rail Extension Line, Hengqin Station, and Zhuhai Changlong Station.

Lei Wai Nong, Director of the Executive Committee of Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin, indicated that the channels would promote the efficient and safe flow of resource factors between Hengqin and Macao. It will beef up the integrated development of the two places with a high-level opening-up, injecting new impetus into Macao's integration into the national development.

Next, Hengqin authorities will speed up the construction of the 2nd phase of the "first-tier" line (Hengqin Port), the Smart Inspection Port service platform, and so on. These projects will also create a favorable environment to promote the integrated development of Macao and Hengqin and Macao's moderate economic diversification.
