On Nov. 8, Vice Governor Zhang Guangjun met with Andrei DAPKIUNAS, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and his delegation in Guangzhou and attended upon invitation the opening ceremony of Belarus Consulate General in Guangzhou.

At the meeting, Vice Governor Zhang Guangjun said that Guangdong attaches great importance to the exchanges and cooperation with Belarus and hoped that the China (Guangdong) Optoelectronic Technology Industrial Park Project in Great stone can become a model of friendly cooperation between China and Belarus.

At the ceremony, Zhang expressed that in recent years, local exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Belarus have become closer under the framework of good relations between China and Belarus. The Great stone project is a large-scale comprehensive cooperative development project that Guangdong participates into in the “The Belt and Road” construction, which lays a good foundation for practical  cooperation between the two sides.

Guangdong will firmly grasp the historical opportunity brought by “The Belt and Road” initiative and take the opportunity of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and Free Trade Zone of Guangdong to further expand the exchanges and cooperation with Belarus in the fields of economy and trade, energy, agriculture, culture, tourism and personnel exchanges, and explore cooperative potentials in the fields of transportation, logistics, information industry, wood processing, paper industry and energy industry.

Andrei DAPKIUNAS hoped that the Republic of Belarus Consulate General in Guangzhou will give full play to its role of bridge and bond to promote the cooperation between Belarus and Guangdong in the fields of economy, trade, culture, education and tourism.
