Ouyang Weimin Visits Vietnam and Attends the 6th Leaders Meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation

From March 30 to March 31, at the invitation of Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Vietnam, Ouyang Weimin, Vice Governor of Guangdong Provincial People's Government, visited Vietnam and attended the sixth summit meeting of the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation (GMS) and the first GMS Business Summit. At the Entrepreneur Summit, Ouyang Weimin gave a keynote speech entitled "Strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation and seeking win-win development". He said that this year marks the 15th anniversary of the establishment of China-ASEAN strategic partnership and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Mechanism. Guangdong will conscientiously implement the cooperation consensus reached between China and ASEAN countries, actively promote the construction of the “Belt and Road”Initiative and seek mutual benefit and common development. In the subsequent meeting between local enterprises of the two sides, Ouyang Weimin introduced the development of Guangdong and answered questions from Chinese and Vietnamese entrepreneurs. Ouyang Weimin and three other Chinese provincial delegations met with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and exchanged views on how to further promote economic and trade cooperation between China's provinces and Vietnam. The visit is fruitful as Ouyang Weimin also met with Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hanoi Municipality,  Vice Chairman of the Haiphong Municipal People's Committee and Vice Chairman of the Tỉnh Thừa Thiên - Huế Province People's Committee and leaders of Ho Chi Minh City to discuss how to deepen exchanges and cooperation on economic, trade, culture, education, tourism and other fields, especially focusing on how to build China-Vietnam (Shenzhen-Haifang) economic and trade cooperation zone into a national high-tech development zone.
