After three online-sessions, China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) will resume offline fair in the upcoming session, which will be held from October 15 to October 19 in Guangzhou.

A press conference was held on October 12, introducing Guangzhou’s preparation for this trade gala.

Government departments to guarantee a COVID-free and smooth-traffic Canton Fair

“As of 24:00, October 11, 16.98 million people in Guangzhou have been fully vaccinated, with the full vaccination rate of the residents reaching 90.9%; the front-line staff attending to logistic support have all completed full vaccination,” Liu Chengyong, Deputy Director of the Guangzhou Municipal Health Commission, told the press.

Epidemic control and prevention has been the top priority of this Canton Fair. All exhibitors are required to present a certificate of negative nucleic acid test within 48 hours each time they enter the exhibition hall. Meanwhile, taking temperature, showing health code, and wearing masks in public places will be strictly enforced throughout the event.

“I shall remind all the guests to keep self-protection and health monitoring in mind during the Canton Fair. If you do not feel well, please immediately report to the organizer or your hotel,” Liu emphasized at the end of his speech.

Zhang Zhengui, Deputy Director of the Command Center, Guangzhou Municipal Public Security Bureau, noted the transportation policy and service for the event. The driving ban for non-local vehicals in Guangzhou will be suspended during the Canton Fair, announced Zhang.

What’s more, the “City Transportation Management” system will assist traffic police to ensure traffic security and ease traffic jams. For exhibitors, “we suggested to take public transportation to the Canton Fair and avoid rush hours,” added Zhang.

CSG to go all out to secure the power supply to the Canton Fair

Last month, power shortages occurred in some areas across China including Guangdong province, leading to a power rationing in factories.

Su Zhipeng, Deputy General Manager of Guangzhou Power Supply Bureau Co., Ltd, China Southern Power Grid (CSG), said at the press conference that the bureau will guarantee safe and stable operation of Guangzhou power grid with the power supply to the Canton Fair, households and public places being the priority.
