Chief Executive of China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Carrie Lam said that Hong Kong will continue to actively promote educational exchanges and cooperation with mainland China, and jointly create a talent pool for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) on November 14.

Addressing the 115th anniversary of the founding of Jinan University held in Guangzhou via video link, Lam said that she also hopes Jinan University can continue to support the relevant work of HKSAR government.

"Over the past 100 years, Jinan University has adhered to the school-running policy of 'facing overseas and facing Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan'," Lam said. "It has always breathed the same breath and shares the same future with the country, and has cultivated a large number of outstanding talents from all over the world, including from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan."

Lam pointed out that Jinan University's Hong Kong alumni have played vital roles in the development of Hong Kong. "They are a solid force to ensure the long-term development of 'One Country, Two Systems' policy and maintain the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong."

Carrie Lam also said that Hong Kong has ushered in a good situation of economic development and improvement of people's livelihood under the dual guarantee of implementing the Hong Kong national security law and improving the HKSAR electoral system.

"Standing at a new starting point, Hong Kong will fully implement the 'One Country, Two Systems' policy, actively integrate into the overall development of the country, and continue to play a unique role in the country's progress towards the second centenary goal.”
