Winning pieces of first GBA young architect competition displayed in Guangzhou Knowledge City

The architectural competition which invited young architects to contribute their ideas to the green development of the China-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City (CSGKC), a bilateral urban project located in Huangpu District of Guangzhou, wrapped up on January 8th, 2022, marking the successful conclusion of the first Zero-carbon architectural competition between the universities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).

The team from Guangdong University of Technology won the first prize of the competition. The 6 awarded project designed by young architects aged about 20 are open to the public on the bank of Jiulong Lake of the CSGKC, which is expected to become a new landscape of the neighborhood.

The competition is under the guidance of the management committee of the CSGKC, and organized by CapitaLand China and SCI Group.

The competition was launched in September 2021, and attracted 150 university students and instructors from 7 top universities in the GBA, including South China University of Technology, Jinan University, Shenzhen University, South China Agricultural University, Guangdong University of Technology, Guangzhou University and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts.

The participants created a total number of 14 architectural projects with the use of environmental-friendly materials such as recyclable wood, bamboo, PPT hollow panels, foamed ceramic panels.

The jury was composed of experts from the government, enterprises and architectural design institutes.
