Dec 4: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On Dec 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 17 new cases of confirmed infections (15 imported cases, 9 in Shanghai municipality, 2 in Fujian province, 2 in Henan province,  1 in Shandong province and 1 in Guangdong province; 2 indigenous cases in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), 1 new case of suspected infections (an imported case in Shanghai), and no deaths. 12 patients were released from hospital after being cured. 429 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. Serious cases decreased by 1.

As of 24:00 on Dec 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 3,904 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 3,666 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 238 confirmed cases (including 3 cases in serious condition) and 6 suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on Dec 3, the National Health Commission had received reports of 86,584 confirmed cases and 4,634 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 81,679 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 271 confirmed cases (including 5 cases in serious condition) and 8 suspected cases. 882,239 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 7,077 were still under medical observation.

On Dec 3, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 12 new asymptomatic cases (all were imported cases). 17 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (all were imported cases) and no asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases. As of 24:00 on Dec 3, 249 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 243 imported cases).

As of 24:00 on Dec 3, 7,321 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 6,589 in Hong Kong (111 had died and 5,423 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 46 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 686 in Taiwan (7 had died and 572 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
