June 9: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 70 new cases of confirmed infections (17 imported cases, 4 in Fujian province, 4 in Guangdong province, 3 in Yunnan province, 2 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Beijing municipality, 1 in Heilongjiang province, 1 in Chongqing municipality and 1 in Sichuan province; 53 indigenous cases, 37 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Liaoning province, 4 in Shanghai municipality and 1 in Beijing municipality, including 10 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 9 in Liaoning province and 1 in Beijing municipality), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections. 

On June 8, 145 patients were released from hospital after being cured (21 imported cases; 124 indigenous cases, 78 in Shanghai municipality, 26 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Henan province, 7 in Sichuan province, 4 in Tianjin municipality, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Guangdong province). 8,033 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 6.

As of 24:00 on June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 18,834 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,643 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 191 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on June 8, the National Health Commission had received reports of 224,535 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 218,403 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 906 confirmed cases (including 33 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,139,921 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 111,365 were still under medical observation.

On June 8, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 170 new asymptomatic cases (59 imported cases; 111 indigenous cases, 93 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 5 in Jilin province, 5 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Liaoning province, 2 in Fujian province, 1 in Henan province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region and 1 in Yunnan province). 

On June 8, 680 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (74 imported cases; 606 indigenous cases, 525 in Shanghai municipality, 20 in Sichuan province, 19 in Zhejiang province, 11 in Henan province, 8 in Liaoning province, 8 in Shandong province, 5 in Tianjin municipality, 3 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Jilin province, 2 in Jiangsu province, 1 in Jiangxi province and 1 in Yunnan province). 10 asymptomatic case became confirmed cases (all were indigenous cases). As of 24:00 on June 8, 3,505 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 460 imported cases). 

As of 24:00 on June 8, 2,953,991 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 332,967 in Hong Kong (9,389 had died and 62,644 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 83 in Macao (82 had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 2,620,941 in Taiwan (3,373 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
