June 17: Daily briefing on novel coronavirus cases in China

On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 54 new cases of confirmed infections (31 imported cases, 10 in Fujian province, 7 in Guangdong province, 3 in Shanghai municipality, 3 in Shaanxi province, 2 in Beijing municipality, 2 in Sichuan province, 1 in Zhejiang province, 1 in Hubei province, 1 in Hunan province and 1 in Chongqing municipality, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Zhejiang province and 1 in Guangdong province; 23 indigenous cases, 11 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 4 in Liaoning province and 2 in Shanghai municipality, including 2 confirmed cases converting from asymptomatic cases, 1 in Beijing municipality and 1 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region), no deaths, and no new cases of suspected infections. 

On June 16, 51 patients were released from hospital after being cured (16 imported cases; 35 indigenous cases, 21 in Shanghai municipality, 9 in Beijing municipality, 3 in Sichuan province and 2 in Liaoning province). 16,033 people who had had close contact with infected patients were freed from medical observation. The number of serious cases decreased by 5.

As of 24:00 on June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland had reported 19,006 cases of imported confirmed infections and no deaths. In all, 18,770 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 236 confirmed cases (no serious cases) and no suspected cases.

As of 24:00 on June 16, the National Health Commission had received reports of 225,172 confirmed cases and 5,226 deaths in 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland, and in all 218,995 patients had been cured and discharged from hospital. There still remained 951 confirmed cases (including 10 cases in serious condition) and no suspected cases. 4,203,286 people had been identified as having had close contact with infected patients. 108,407 were still under medical observation.

On June 16, 31 provincial-level regions and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps on the Chinese mainland reported 103 new asymptomatic cases (62 imported cases; 41 indigenous cases, 13 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 11 in Beijing municipality, 6 in Jilin province, 5 in Liaoning province, 2 in Shanghai municipality, 1 in Hebei province, 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region, 1 in Sichuan province and 1 in Yunnan province). 

On June 16, 251 asymptomatic cases were freed from medical observation (68 imported cases; 183 indigenous cases, 143 in Shanghai municipality, 12 in Liaoning province, 8 in Zhejiang province, 7 in Beijing municipality, 7 in Sichuan province, 2 in Inner Mongolia autonomous region, 2 in Guangdong province, 1 in Jilin province and 1 in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region). 4 asymptomatic cases became confirmed cases (including 2 imported cases). As of 24:00 on June 16, 1,652 asymptomatic cases were still under medical observation (including 464 imported cases).  

As of 24:00 on June 16, 3,469,863 confirmed infections had been reported in the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan province: 334,215 in Hong Kong (9,392 had died and 63,056 had been cured and discharged from hospital), 83 in Macao (all had been cured and discharged from hospital) and 3,135,565 in Taiwan (4,714 had died and 13,742 had been cured and discharged from hospital).
