Lin Ji attends the 51st Anniversary Reception of the ASEAN’s Establishment

On August 8, the Consulate General of ASEAN in Guangzhou hosted a celebration reception to celebrate the 51st anniversary of the establishment of ASEAN. Deputy Secretary-General of the Provincial Government Lin Ji attended the event on behalf of the Guangdong Provincial Government and delivered a speech.

Lin Ji said that since China-ASEAN established its strategic partnership for 15 years, the relationship between the two sides has continued to develop, achieving a leap from quantity to quality, from the period of rapid development of the growth to the stage of maturity and upgrading. Now the China-ASEAN relationship has entered a new stage of all-round development. Since the establishment of the consulates of ASEAN countries, a lot of fruitful work has been done to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between the two sides in various fields. In 2017, the trade volume between Guangdong and the eight ASEAN countries who set up consulates in Guangzhou reached 856.47 billion yuan with an increase of 15.74%. This is a trade and economic data that attracts worldwide attention. He hoped that Guangdong could further strengthen the mutually beneficial cooperation with ASEAN countries, seize the historical opportunities brought about by the “Belt and Road Initiative”, strengthen interconnection, expand cooperation space through strengthening capacity cooperation and infrastructure construction, and work together to benefit the people of both sides.

The head of the ASEAN delegation and Consulate General of Indonesia in Guangzhou Anak Agung Gde Alit Santhika thanked Deputy Secretary-General Lin Ji for his attending.  He said that the ASEAN Consulate General in Guangzhou will continue to play the role of bridge, linking all parties to promote the exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and ASEAN in more fields. In doing so, mutual benefit and win-win cooperation would be achieved.
