Ouyang Weimin Meets with the Ambassador of Ethiopia to China

GUAGNZHOU, June 11, 2018, Ouyang Weimin, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, met with Berhane Gebre-Christos, Ethiopian Ambassador to China.

Ouyang first extended welcome to Christos, and then introduced the economic and social development of Guangdong Province. He said Ethiopia is one of the four key countries in Africa that China cooperates with in capacity. As a large province economically, Guangdong Province will cooperate with Ethiopia in economy, trade, education, tourism and other areas. 

Ouyang pointed out that Guangdong is striving to become a strategic pivot of the Belt and Road Initiative, a center of economic and trade cooperation as well as an important engine of economic growth, and he hoped to deepen cooperation with Ethiopia in infrastructure construction and other areas, enhance inter-connectivity, and take the advantage of Huajian International Light Industrial Park to promote bilateral cooperation of production capacity.

Christos hoped to learn from Guangdong's experience in development to promote exchange and cooperation with Guangdong in economy, culture and other areas. He said enterprises of Guangdong are welcomed to do business in Ethiopia and Ethiopia institution stationed in China will offer necessary support to them.
