Ouyang Weimin Meets with Irish Minister for Education and Skills

Guangzhou, March 21. Vice Governor Ouyang Weimin met with the delegation led by Irish Minister for Education and Skills Joe McHugh.

Ouyang welcomed the delegation and briefly introduced the economic and social development of Guangdong. He said, this year marks the 40th anniversary of the diplomatic relation between China and Ireland, and Guangdong is willing to strengthen the cooperation with Ireland under the China-Ireland Strategic Partnership for Mutual Benefit. Guangdong is prominent in population, economy and foreign trade, and Ireland is a world-leading innovative country. There is a huge potential for both sides to cooperate in the field of technology, innovation, higher education, electronic information, bio-pharmaceuticals and agricultural product processing.

Joe McHugh said, Guangdong is an important partner of Ireland. He hoped that Guangdong can use Ireland as a gateway to EU market and carry out more cooperation in economy, trade, technology, science and education.
