Guangdong to hold MSR Forum, boost international communication

The 3rd 21st Century Maritime Silk Road China (Guangdong) International Communication Forum will be held in Zhuhai from October 21st-23rd.

This year's forum is organized by CCTV and the Guangdong Government, and undertaken by Guangdong's Publicity Department (Guangdong Information Office) and the Zhuhai Government. It will shed light into the positive effects of the development of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) on the B&R cooperation the partnership along the Maritime Silk Road, an important component of Belt and Road (B&R).

It will invite 300 guests from media, entrepreneurs and academics worldwide. It will also have government officials from China’s Publicity Department, the Guangdong Government and the GBA cities as well as officials from the foreign Consulates-General in Guangzhou and Guangdong's international sister provinces and cities.

Key opinion leaders such as Nobel Prize owner Angus S. Deaton and Founder of Sino-European Forum David Gosset have also confirmed attendance. Journalists from 18 mainstream media of 18 countries and regions will also attend the forum and participate in a tour to visit the GBA cities.

Lin Ji, Executive Vice Director of Organizing Committee of the forum and Deputy Secretary-General of the Guangdong Government, introduced that the forum will focus on four major aspects, that is, "Belt and Road development", "GBA development", "international communication capacity" and "media convergence". Thus, it will set up three sub-forums on "promoting GBA globally", "media convergence &innovation of international commutation" and "city image branding in B&R development".

Hu Bangsheng, Executive Vice Director of the Organizing Committee of the forum and Member of Editorial Affairs Committee of CCTV, added that this year's forum will include three exhibitions such as the "5G+4K/8K+AI" smart media exhibition to showcase the country's media convergence development as well as the development of countries and regions along B&R.

In addition, Min Yuntong, Executive Deputy Director-General of Zhuhai Publicity Department, said the forum would witness the signature of the cooperative agreement between Zhuhai Media Group and Macao Commercial Post, Telediffusion of Macao Co., Ltd and Macao Cable TV.

Since established in 2017, the forum has become an important window for the world to gain insight into the B&R Initiative and an effective platform to push forward media communication and various sorts of cooperation between countries and regions along the B&R.
