He Rusheng, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province‌, met with Manuel José Gonçalves‌, the ambassador of Mozambique to China, in the provincial capital of Guangzhou on July 16.

He noted that China and Mozambique had built a community with a shared future in Beijing on April 21, laying a solid foundation for friendly cooperation between the two countries.

Guangdong remains firmly committed to cooperating with Mozambique, and hopes to make the most of the zero‑tariff policy for all 53 African countries that have diplomatic ties with China to further strengthen economic and trade ties.

Taking the opportunity of the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural and People-to-People Exchanges, both sides will deepen their practical cooperation in agricultural technology, traditional Chinese medicine promotion, and other fields.

Gonçalves said he believes Guangdong's strengths in economy, technology, and healthcare are highly complementary to Mozambique's resources and labor force. He pledged to continue advancing exchanges and cooperation in smart agriculture, medical and health care, as well as other areas, so as to better benefit the peoples of both sides.
