Li Hongzhi , deputy director of the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office, met with Kevin Clayton Baker, principal of the American International School of Guangzhou, and his entourage in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Aug 12.

Li congratulated the school on its 45th anniversary, commending its contributions to improving Guangzhou's international influence and fostering the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area's international business environment. He also lauded the school's integration of Guangdong culture into its curriculum.

Li said the Guangdong Provincial Foreign Affairs Office stands ready to support the school's cultural-exchange activities. He encouraged the institution to cultivate more cross-cultural talents with an inclusive mindset for mutual learning, to contribute more educational strength to Guangdong's high-level opening-up.

Baker noted the school would continue to act as a bridge for cultural exchanges and people-to-people friendship to support Guangdong's opening-up drive.

Founded in 1981 as South China's first international school, it offers programs from kindergarten to grade 12. It serves local expat families, consular staff and multinational executives, with over 1,000 students enrolled to date from more than 40 countries and regions.
