China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong, KwaZulu-Natal boost ties in disaster, trade, agriculture

Zhang Guozhi, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and vice governor of South China's Guangdong province, met with Buthelezi, member of Executive Committee and director of the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs of South Africa's KwaZulu-Natal province, along with his delegation in Guangzhou on Sept 2. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening all-round cooperation across disaster management, economic and trade exchanges and other sectors.

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the sister-province relationship between the two sides. Zhang said the two regions share significant complementary strengths in resources and markets, and expressed hope for further pragmatic collaboration in trade and investment, agriculture, urban governance, emergency management, education and technology.

Buthelezi responded that South Africa places great importance on its ties with Guangdong and voiced a shared desire to deliver more tangible outcomes that benefit the people of both regions.
