China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong, Spain join hands to supercharge trade, tech and AI

Yuan Baocheng, vice chairman of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, attended the Spanish National Day reception hosted by the Consulate General of Spain in Guangzhou on Oct 8.

Yuan said China and Spain, though far apart, share a long history of friendly exchanges. Guangdong, like Spain, is a coastal region that is open and inclusive, and their similar geographic and cultural environments have strengthened their ties. Within the framework of provincial and municipal sister-city relations, exchanges between the two sides have remained dynamic and practical cooperation across multiple fields has continued to deepen.

Yuan said that this year marks the APEC "China Year", and as the host of the 33rd APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting, Guangdong is taking this opportunity to build a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment. He welcomed countries and regions worldwide to cooperate and share in the developmental benefits of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Yuan said Guangdong is eager to collaborate with various sectors in Spain to enhance cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, education and technology, new energy and artificial intelligence. Guangdong also aims to promote tourism and strengthen people-to-people exchanges, contributing to a more beneficial partnership between China and Spain.
