China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong, South Korea to deepen high-tech cooperation

Liu Yahong, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, attended a reception marking South Korea's National Day in Guangzhou, Guangdong province, on Oct 15 at the invitation of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou and delivered a speech.

Liu extended her sincere greetings and best wishes to South Korean friends working, studying and living in Guangdong. She noted that Guangdong and South Korea enjoy geographical proximity, cultural affinity and strong business ties.

Moreover, she added, they both benefit from practical cooperation in international sister-city partnerships while their trade and investment, scientific and technological innovation, and cultural, people-to-people and youth exchanges have been at the forefront nationwide, yielding fruitful results.

This year marks the beginning of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) and also serves as a highly anticipated APEC "China Year". At present, Guangdong is advancing the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in a new phase and striving to write its own chapter in Chinese modernization.

Looking ahead, Liu said, Guangdong stands ready to work with South Korea to facilitate high-level mutual visits at the local government level, tap the potential for cooperation in high technology and emerging industries, and build flagship projects, thereby contributing to the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership.
