Ye Zhenqin, deputy director of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, attended and addressed a reception in Guangzhou on Wednesday marking Germany's National Day. The event was hosted by the Consulate-General of Germany in Guangzhou.
Ye said Germany has been Guangdong's largest trading partner and leading source of foreign investment in Europe for many years, while Guangdong ranks among the top provincial destinations for German companies investing in China. Cooperation between the two sides has delivered fruitful results in trade and investment, research and innovation, vocational education, youth exchanges and cultural tourism, she noted.
Pointing out that this year marks the start of China's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30) period, Ye said Guangdong is striving to set an example and shoulder greater responsibility in building new strengths and achieving new breakthroughs.
Looking ahead, Guangdong is ready to work with German partners in all sectors to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, fully leverage trade channels such as the China-Europe Railway Express to sustain trade growth, and promote two-way investment in automobiles, medical devices, industrial software and new energy, so as to deliver landmark outcomes with long-term benefits and open up new space for win-win development.
