Overview:
Michigan is located in the Midwestern region of the United States, in the Great Lakes area. It covers an area of 254,000 square kilometers and has a population of approximately 10.07 million. The state capital is Lansing, with a population of approximately 120,000, while the largest city is Detroit, with a population of 660,000. Michigan's primary industries include automobiles, information technology, aerospace, defense, transportation, and manufacturing. The state is a major producer of peat, bromine, calcium chloride, gypsum and magnesium compounds. Industries such as hunting, fishing and tourism also play significant roles in Michigan's economy. Known as the center of the US automobile industry, Michigan is home to General Motors, Chrysler and Ford, all founded in the early 20th Century. In addition to automobiles, Michigan manufactures a wide range of other products, including metal goods, machinery, food and chemicals. The state's natural habitat, which includes forests, lakes and miles of beaches, is a big draw for tourists. Michigan is also an agricultural powerhouse, second only to California in terms of agricultural diversity, producing a variety of crops such as corn, soybeans, flowers, wheat, sugar beets, and potatoes.
Relations with Guangdong:
Since establishing friendly relations, Guangdong and Michigan have engaged in fruitful exchanges and cooperation in areas such as trade, the automotive industry and education. In September 2020, Michigan participated in the "2020 China (Guangdong)–US Investment Cooperation Forum", co-hosted by the Guangdong Provincial People's Government and the US Chamber of Commerce. In March 2021, Wang Yanshi, the then deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, and Eric Nesbitt, president pro tempore of Michigan State Senate, attended the 5th China-US Subnational Legislatures Cooperation Forum via video conference, where they exchanged views on topics like autonomous driving legislation.
