Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with a delegation led by Jang Je hak, the newly appointed consul general of the Republic of Korea in Guangzhou on Aug 21, to discuss deepening practical bilateral cooperation.

Ma congratulated Jang on his new post. He said that Guangdong and the ROK enjoy geographical proximity, close people-to-people ties and strong economic and trade links, with their comprehensive practical cooperation remaining a national leader for years.

He added that Jang's tenure would provide a new opportunity to deepen high-level exchanges and cooperation in artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and green, low-carbon sectors, giving fresh local impetus to the China-ROK strategic cooperative partnership.

Jang said the ROK places great importance on cooperation with China. As Guangdong is one of China's major provincial economies, the consulate general will continue advancing bilateral cooperation through high-level mutual visits, trade and investment, and sister city exchanges to achieve more positive outcomes.
