The 48th WorldSkills Competition concluded in Shanghai on the evening of Sept 27. Seventeen competitors from Guangdong province competed in 16 events and finished with thirteen gold medals, one bronze medal and two Medallions for Excellence.

Guangdong's gold tally accounts for nearly one-third of the national total, while its overall medal count represents one quarter. The province continued its winning streak in traditional events and won gold in both newly added events, demonstrating its high skill standards.

Xia Guojin, from Guangzhou Industry & Trade Technician College, won gold in the Network Systems Administration event. He said he hoped to stay at the college to train candidates for the next competition, share his experience and help cultivate more IT talent.

Li Zhuoping, from Guangdong Mechanical Technician College, took gold in the CNC Milling event, securing China's sixth consecutive championship in the category.

"The competition item saw drastic changes. I will pass on my precious competition experience to junior contestants,"said Li.
