Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong province, held a meeting with Lei Yuqi, the newly appointed consul general of Canada in Guangzhou, on Sept 16. Both sides reached a consensus on advancing cooperation across multiple sectors.

He briefly introduced Guangdong's progress in economic and social development. He said that Guangdong has always attached great importance to fostering friendly relations with Canada, and that bilateral exchanges and cooperation across all fields and at all levels have continuously yielded new outcomes.

He also expressed hope that the two sides will further deepen cooperation in areas including advanced manufacturing, biomedicine, clean energy, and agriculture and food products, promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges as well as personnel interactions, and contribute to the further growth of China-Canada friendly ties.

Lei expressed gratitude to the Foreign Affairs Office for its long-standing support and assistance to the Consulate General of Canada in Guangzhou. She stated that the consulate will continue to actively fulfill its role in steadily advancing high-level mutual visits, economic and trade exchanges, and people-to-people and cultural connections between the two regions.
