Overview:
California is located on the west coast of the United States, bordered by the Pacific Ocean to the west, Oregon to the north, Nevada and Arizona to the east, and Baja California, Mexico, to the south. With an area of 414,000 square kilometers, California is the third-largest state in the US, followingafterAlaska and Texas. It is also the most populous state, with its capital in Sacramento. Eight of the 50 most populous cities in the US are in California, including Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach, and Oakland. The state is home to the second and sixth-largest metropolitan areas in the US, the Greater Los Angeles area and the San Francisco Bay Area, respectively. California boasts a highly developed economy and is the strongest state economy in the US, with key industries including information technology, biopharmaceuticals, energy conservation, agriculture, winemaking, finance, venture capital, aerospace, tourism, transportation, and international trade. The state also has a well-established cultural and educational system, with prestigious universities such as Stanford University, the University of California, the California Institute of Technology, the California State University system, and the University of Southern California.
Relations with Guangdong:
Since establishing friendly relations, Guangdong and California have engaged in frequent exchanges and cooperation at various levels, achieving fruitful results in areas such as trade, low-carbon environmental protection, education, and science and technology. In 2019, Guangdong and California co-hosted the "2019 China (Guangdong)–US Investment Cooperation Forum" to expand trade cooperation. In September 2020, California's Lieutenant Governor Eleni Kounalakis participated via video at the 2020 China (Guangdong) - US Investment Cooperation Forum.
