Guangdong launches diverse New Year celebrations for 2026

As the 2026 New Year's Day holiday approaches, cities across Guangdong have launched a series of themed activities and immersive experiences, including New Year's Eve concerts, intangible cultural heritage performances, themed parades, and night light shows, creating a rich and varied atmosphere to welcome the new year.

Multiple scenic spots in Guangzhou are offering special New Year's Eve events. Chimelong Paradise is hosting a "winter carnival" from now until Jan 4, 2026, featuring artificial snow to recreate a winter vibe, and inviting artists from multiple countries to join the countdown on New Year's Eve. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall will stage two New Year's concerts by the Hanover Symphony Blaser Orchestra (Germany) on Dec 31, welcoming the new year with symphonic music.

Immersive experiences are a highlight of the holiday. Canton Tower Square is holding its anniversary celebration until January 2026, including celebrity flash mobs, mascot parades, and musical performances. Lingnan Impression Park will present female lion dances, ICH handicraft workshops, and live song-and-dance shows during the New Year's Day holiday, complemented by an evening light feast combining "iron flower performances" and 1,000 lantern show.

Cities including Foshan, Dongguan, Jiangmen, Zhanjiang, and Qingyuan are simultaneously rolling out distinctive New Year experiences. Longtang Poetry Society at Foshan Lingnan Tiandi will stage ancient building shadow puppet shows every night from Jan 1 to 3. Longfeng Villa in Dongguan has integrated cloth horse parades, night tours, and puppet fireworks shows. Naqin Peninsula in Jiangmen offers exclusive land-and-water fun fairs for guests. Maodegong Drum City in Zhanjiang presents a New Year's Eve ICH long street banquet and hanfu experiences. Lianzhou Underground River in Qingyuan has launched a "subterranean adventure" theme, guiding tourists to embark on a new year journey amid landscapes and ancient cities.
