The Guangdong soccer team secured a 2-0 victory over the Macao team in the first leg of the Guangdong-Macao Cup, which opened in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, on Saturday.

Since its inception in 2001, the match has been played nearly every year after the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup.

The teams will move to Macao for the second leg of the event on Tuesday, which was jointly organized by the sports authorities of Guangdong and Macao.
