KFC celebrated the opening of its 2000th store in South China's Guangdong province on May 29, with the new store located in Yuehai city, Jiangmen. This event also marked the 100th KPRO healthy dining outlet in the province.
KFC employee representatives from across the province gathered in Jiangmen, a key city in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, to witness this significant milestone in the brand's development in the province.
Jiangmen, known as the "Capital of Overseas Chinese", is a city rich in Cantonese cultural heritage and a distinctive tourism destination in Guangdong. The new KFC store in Jiangmen features a unique theme space celebrating the local overseas Chinese culture.
Since opening its first Guangdong store in Guangzhou in 1993, KFC has seen rapid growth in the province, surpassing 200 stores in 2005, 500 in 2011, and reaching 1000 in 2021. The brand's expansion includes innovative concepts such as KPRO and K-Coffee, as well as drive-thru services, with over 600 K-Coffee outlets in the province.
KFC uses digital technology to integrate online and offline experiences, offering efficient dining options like drive-thru and street-side pickup at nearly 1,400 locations in Guangdong. The AI ordering assistant was launched in early this year to cater to diverse customer needs. Beyond fixed locations, KFC's mobile food trucks enhance community engagement at festivals and public spaces, contributing to greater convenience in urban living.
KPRO focuses on health-conscious dining with diverse light meal options prepared through grilling, roasting, and mixing, aligning with modern consumer trends.
