Saint Petersburg is Russia's second-largest city, covering a total area of 1,439 square kilometers with a population of 5.13 million. It is located on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Finland in the Baltic Sea, spanning the estuary of the Neva River.

Saint Petersburg is a crucial Baltic port and serves as Russia's gateway to Northwestern Europe by sea, land and air. The city is crisscrossed by 93 rivers and canals, totaling over 300 kilometers in length, earning it the nickname "Venice of the North". The city experiences cold winters and cool summers, with the famous "White Nights" views occurring in early summer. Saint Petersburg plays a significant role in the Russian economy, serving as a window to Europe, and is a highly developed international city in terms of science, technology, and industry.

Relations with Guangdong:

Since establishing friendly relations with Saint Petersburg, Guangdong province has engaged in fruitful exchanges and cooperation with the city in various fields such as trade, technology, education and tourism. The two regions have formed a Guangdong-Saint Petersburg Joint Working Group mechanism, laying a solid foundation for further collaboration.
