Guangdong, Kazakhstan vow to deepen Belt and Road cooperation

Huang Kunming, secretary of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee, met with Roman Sklyar, Kazakhstan's first deputy prime minister, in Guangzhou on July 3 to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Huang warmly welcomed Sklyar's delegation and outlined Guangdong's strong economic and social progress. He emphasized the complementary relationship between Guangdong and Kazakhstan's industries, expressing interest in improving infrastructure connectivity, increasing China-Europe freight train services, and expanding trade and investment in energy, manufacturing, and agriculture. He suggested enhancing cultural, educational, and tourism exchanges to strengthen mutual understanding.

Sklyar commended Guangdong's vibrant economy and leading industries, describing China as a "trusted strategic partner". He reaffirmed Kazakhstan's commitment to the BRI and pledged to foster increased cooperation in trade, infrastructure, and culture. He also invited Guangdong companies to invest in Kazakhstan, assuring them of full government support.

Wang Xi, Feng Zhonghua, and Zhang Guozhi, who are leaders of Guangdong province, also attended the meeting.
