Ma Wenfeng, director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Ivan Zyuulu, Zambia's Ambassador to China, in Guangzhou on Jan 13, to discuss ways of deepening bilateral practical cooperation.
Ma welcomed Ambassador Zyuulu's return to Guangdong after two years. He said China and Zambia have continued their traditional friendship, including joint efforts to revitalize the TAZARA Railway, a symbol of China-Africa friendship.
Highlighting Guangdong's role in driving high-quality economic development and seeking a strong start to its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), Ma noted the thriving partnership between the province and Zambia.
He expressed hope for further strengthened economic ties, expanded industrial collaboration, and enhanced people-to-people exchanges, to open a new chapter of mutually beneficial relations.
Zyuulu affirmed Zambia's commitment to supporting these burgeoning ties.
Recognizing Guangdong's advanced economy and manufacturing strength, he conveyed Zambia's desire to deepen practical cooperation in infrastructure, information technology, artificial intelligence, and new energy sectors.
This collaboration aims to support Zambia's eighth National Development Five-Year Plan and deliver greater benefits to both peoples.
The meeting was also attended by Wina Simweetwa Muchindu, the acting consul-general of Zambia in Guangzhou.
