China's Diplomacy in the New Era 
Chinese and North American choirs visit Zhuhai No. 1 High School

Under the guidance of the Guangdong People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, a delegation of 45 students and teachers from the Young People's Chorus of New York City (YPC) visited Shenzhen, Guangzhou and Zhuhai from October 5 to 13.

The group, together with the Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir, performed at Zhuhai No. 1 High School on October 12. To welcome the choirs, the high school's Starry Sky Chorus performed a Xinjiang folk song, while the students also introduced the school in fluent English, presenting flowers as symbols of friendship to the choir representatives.

Zhang Liu'an, Party secretary of Zhuhai No. 1 High School, welcomed the group and noted the long history of cultural exchange between China and the United States. He said music has always played an important role in these exchanges. He encouraged students to explore and create together through music, letting the flower of friendship bloom in their shared songs.

The Starry Sky String Orchestra performed pieces such as The Butterfly Lovers and selections from Frozen. The Butterfly Lovers, a famous Chinese folk tale, was vividly brought to life through music with the incorporation of Western instruments.

The Starry Sky Choir presented the classic Cantonese songs Boundless Oceans, Vast Skies and the female solo Legend. The YPC and Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir delivered remarkable performances in return.

The YPC is an internationally renowned multicultural youth choir, celebrated for its exceptional technique and captivating performances. It is recognized as one of the world's top choirs, having won the World Choir Competition for the last two years running.

The Guangdong Experimental Middle School Choir, established in 1952, is a distinguished choir, having won the Guangzhou Choral Festival for 14 consecutive years and been honored as a "Chinese Model Choir" by the China Choral Association.
