On Jan 6, Chen Guangjun, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met in Guangzhou with a delegation led by Hari Gobinda Shrestha, mayor of Mahalaxmi Municipality in Nepal.
Chen welcomed the delegation and outlined Guangdong’s role as a major economic and innovation hub, home to the world-leading Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Guangzhou innovation cluster.
He highlighted the sound cooperative foundation between Guangdong and Nepal in sister-city exchanges, trade, culture, and tourism, expressing hope of seeing even stronger ties with Mahalaxmi.
Chen also noted the active exchanges with the Arniko Association of Nepal since 2009 and proposed further collaboration in such domains as the arts, delegation visits, and youth engagement.
Mayor Shrestha thanked Guangdong for its hospitality and introduced his city's development progress. Noting the 70th anniversary of China-Nepal diplomatic relations, he expressed willingness to deepen cooperation with Guangdong in economy, trade, and culture to elevate bilateral relations.
