Chen Guangjun, deputy director general of the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province, met with Aníbal Cabral, Uruguayan Ambassador to China, in Guangzhou on April 15 to discuss the deepening of bilateral cooperation.
Chen welcomed the ambassador and outlined Guangdong's economic and social development. He noted that under the strategic guidance of the two countries' leaders, the China-Uruguay comprehensive strategic partnership has continued to strengthen, with strong practical outcomes already achieved. Guangdong's exchanges and cooperation with Uruguay have grown increasingly close, he said, expressing hope that both sides will work together through Uruguay's embassy in Beijing and consulate in Guangzhou to advance collaboration in trade, education, culture and tourism and sister-city partnerships.
Cabral expressed his appreciation for the hospitality and said he was deeply impressed by Guangdong's development. He affirmed his commitment to maintaining close contact with the provincial foreign affairs office and further strengthening cooperation in trade, culture, sports and new energy. The Uruguayan Consulate General in Guangzhou later sent a letter of thanks commending the office's support.
