Guangdong governor meets joint delegation of Tonga's parliament and government

On May 15, high-level diplomatic talks unfolded in Guangzhou between Xiao Yafei, deputy director of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial People's Congress, and the third joint delegation of Tonga's parliament and government led by Lord Vaca, speaker of the Tongan Parliament.

Xiao said that under the framework of the China-Tonga comprehensive strategic partnership, practical cooperation between Guangdong and Tonga has made strong headway, delivering tangible benefits to people on both sides. Guangdong stands ready to expand friendly exchanges in economy, trade, agriculture, fishery, tourism and other fields, deepen people-to-people and local cooperation, and seek complementary advantages and mutual benefits. The provincial legislature also hopes to boost experience-sharing and personnel exchanges with Tonga's parliament to further cement mutual trust and friendship.

Vaca expressed eagerness to strengthen ties with Guangdong. His delegation hopes to use this visit to push forward in-depth pragmatic collaboration across trade, agriculture, fishery, education and culture, and to pursue sustained win-win development.
