Governor of FSM State of Chuuk pays visit to Guangdong

A celebration banquet marking the 15th anniversary of the establishment of friendly ties between Guangdong province and Chuuk State of the Federated States of Micronesia was held in Guangzhou on May 21.

The event was hosted and addressed by Guo Yile, deputy secretary general of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, who highlighted the fruitful outcomes of high-level visits, people-to-people exchanges, and disaster prevention and mitigation cooperation over the years. He expressed hope for further deepening sister-city collaboration to contribute to the steady advancement of China-Micronesia relations.

FSM State of Chuuk Governor Alexander Narruhn congratulated Guangdong on its development achievements and expressed gratitude for the province's long-term assistance. He proposed expanding cooperation in trade, culture and tourism, infrastructure, and sports.

During their visit, the delegation met with Yin Nianhong, mayor of Zhongshan city, to discuss cooperation between Zhongshan and Chuuk. The delegation also toured GAC Trumpchi, Zhongshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Cross-Sea Corridor Science Education Base of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, experiencing first-hand the achievements of Chinese-style modernization, traditional Chinese medicine culture, and institutional innovation.
