Guangzhou Shipyard International delivered a new 10,800-vehicle LNG dual-fuel Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC), named Glovis Legend, for South Korea's HMM on Monday, nearly nine months ahead of the contract delivery date.

Designed by Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute, the vessel reaches 230 meters long, with a beam of 40 meters, a design draft of 10.5 meters, and a design speed of 19 knots. It features a dual-fuel propulsion system powered by LNG and fuel oil. Upon delivery, the vessel will be operated by Hyundai Glovis.

According to a statement released by GSI on Tuesday, the vessel meets IMO Tier III emission standards. It is characterized by environmental friendliness, energy efficiency, high performance, safety, and reliability.

Glovis Legend is equipped with 14 garage decks, enabling electric vehicle, hydrogen-powered vehicle, and heavy-duty truck loading. Assuming a standard vehicle length of 5 meters, the ship's cargo would stretch over 50 kilometers end-to-end, said the statement from GSI.

The China State Shipbuilding Corp subsidiary has delivered four PCTCs to HMM since 2022. The vessel that was delivered at the end of April became the world's first 10,800-vehicle LNG dual-fuel PCTC.
