President of the Republic of Peru Dina Ercilia Boluarte Zegarra arrived in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, on June 25 to start her five-day visit to China. This is Boluarte's first state visit to China since she took office in December 2022 as Peru's first female president.
On June 26, Boluarte will visit companies including Huawei and BYD in Shenzhen, who stand as China's tech giant and leading new energy vehicle manufacturer, respectively. Boluarte will then leave for Shanghai on the same day and end her tour of China in Beijing.
This year marks the 14th anniversary of the implementation of the China-Peru Free Trade Agreement. China is now Peru's largest trading partner, and Peru ranks as China's fourth-largest trading partner in Latin America.
According to Shenzhen Customs, from January to May 2024, Shenzhen's import and export trade with Peru amounted to 6.04 billion RMB, marking a year-on-year increase of 76.7 percent.
