Wang Weizhong meets with Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye

Wang Weizhong, governor of Guangdong province, met with a delegation led by Burundian President Evariste Ndayishimiye in Guangzhou on September 6.

Wang welcomed Ndayishimiye and provided an overview of Guangdong's economic and social development. He noted that Guangdong is furthering reforms, expanding high-level openness, and steadfastly promoting high-quality development, thus contributing to Chinese-style modernization. This creates new opportunities for strengthening exchanges and cooperation between Guangdong and Burundi, he said.

Wang emphasized that Guangdong will faithfully implement the key consensus reached by the two heads of state and work hand in hand with Burundi to enhance practical cooperation in agriculture, trade, culture, tourism and mining, aiming for mutual benefits and contributing further to the development of China-Burundi relations.

Ndayishimiye congratulated China on successfully hosting the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation in Beijing and expressed full support for "Ten Partnership Action Plans" to advance China-Africa modernization. He emphasized Burundi's commitment to friendly relations with China and expressed a desire to deepen cooperation with Guangdong, particularly in trade, investment, modern agriculture and infrastructure. He said enterprises from Guangdong were welcome to invest and develop in Burundi, with the aim of achieving even greater success in bilateral cooperation.

China's Ambassador to Burundi Zhao Jiangping also attended the meeting.
