Shenzhen's Nanshan ranked first among China's top 500 counties in terms of comprehensive strength in new industrialization, as evidenced by the China County New Industrialization Index Research Report (2024) released recently.

The research made an index on account of the county's capabilities in terms of scientific and technological innovation, the synchronized development of new industrialization, informatization, urbanization, agricultural modernization, openness, coordination, and high-quality efficiency.

Based on government data, the index used big data technologies. It was China's first comprehensive evaluation index that systematically assessed and reflected the progress of new industrialization in counties.

Nanshan has demonstrated impressive industrial strength. Over the years, it has adhered to manufacturing as the mainstay and the real economy as the foundation. The secondary industry consistently accounted for about 30% of its GDP. In the first half of this year, Nanshan's industrial output above the designated size reached 392.08 billion yuan, an increase of 110.66 billion yuan, or 12.8% compared to the same period last year.

This year, Nanshan will have three more national manufacturing champions and 50 specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprises, with the total number of national high-tech enterprises expected to exceed 5,500.
