Zhang Guozhi, member of the Standing Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China and deputy governor of Guangdong province, met with Mohsen Bakhtiar, Iranian ambassador to China, and his delegation in Guangzhou on Feb 17.
Zhang highlighted the positive momentum in economic, trade, cultural tourism, and sister city exchanges between Guangdong and Iran, both of which are key nodes in the Belt and Road Initiative.
He expressed a desire to deepen pragmatic cooperation with Iran in areas such as economic and trade investment, new energy, advanced manufacturing, agriculture, and fisheries, contributing to the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership.
Zhang also welcomed global partners, including Iran, to invest and start businesses in Guangdong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and share in the region's high-quality development opportunities.
Bakhtiar emphasized the solid foundation and broad prospects for cooperation between Iran and Guangdong. He expressed a desire to expand economic and trade cooperation, strengthen people-to-people bonds, and promote mutual understanding.
Bakhtiar also encouraged more enterprises from Guangdong to invest and conduct business in Iran, aiming for win-win outcomes.
