Chen Guangjun, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Tomás Azevedo, Portuguese consul general in Guangzhou, on March 13.
Chen highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Guangdong and Portugal in recent years, driven by strong bilateral relations between China and Portugal. He noted significant achievements in trade, academic cooperation, and cultural and tourism exchanges.
Chen thanked the consulate general for its long-term support, particularly in visa processing for Chinese officials traveling to Portugal.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. Chen emphasized that the Foreign Affairs Office of Guangdong Province is eager to work with the Consulate General of Portugal to further enhance high-level visits, local friendships, university collaboration, and culture and tourism exchanges.
Azevedo reviewed key moments in the China-Portugal relationship and introduced the consulate team members and their recent work plans.
He pledged that the new consulate team will help promote friendly exchanges and pragmatic cooperation between the two regions.
