Sylvain Fourriere, the Consul General of France in Guangzhou – capital of South China's Guangdong province – on March 17 visited the comprehensive service base for Chinese companies expanding globally in the city's Nansha district.

The operations of French companies are widely said to have boosted Nansha's economic development.

Fourriere was updated on the latest advancements in Nansha. That encompassed the execution of the Nansha Plan, industrial development strategies, strengthened collaboration with Hong Kong and Macao and heightened engagement with the global market.

The district is prioritizing the establishment of new industries, as evidenced by significant growth in container throughput at Nansha Port. There's also the expanding trading volume at the Guangzhou Futures Exchange and standout companies like Pony.ai, highlighting the dynamic economy of Nansha.

Fourriere commended Nansha for its strategic location and pivotal role in the economic advancement of Guangzhou, demonstrating his keen interest in the district's development.

He noted that numerous French companies, including L'Oréal, have displayed a keen interest in investing in Nansha or expanding their presence in the region.

Additionally, French institutions have established close collaborations with universities like the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) and Sun Yat-sen University.

The French envoy called on Nansha to provide more support to French companies – further expanding exchanges in areas such as education and research, aerospace, trade and investment, culture and tourism, as well as youth talent.

He said he was willing to introduce Nansha to more French political and business leaders, aiming to elevate cooperation to new heights.
