China's Diplomacy in the New Era
Guangdong governor meets US guest

Wang Weizhong, governor of South China's Guangdong province, met with Raj Subramaniam, president and CEO of FedEx and chairman of the US-China Business Council, in Guangzhou on March 25.

Wang extended a warm welcome to Subramaniam and his delegation, emphasizing Guangdong's leading role in China's reform and opening-up initiatives.

He highlighted the province's proactive opening-up strategy, saying it is striving to advance the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, stabilize foreign trade and investment, and accelerate the establishment of a new, higher-standard open economy.

Leveraging its comprehensive industrial system, vast consumer market, and efficient transportation network, Guangdong aims to expand domestic demand and develop a modern industrial system, which will create broader opportunities for the logistics and express delivery industry, he said.

Wang encouraged FedEx to further expand its presence in Guangdong's international logistics market, enhance business operations, and promote cross-border e-commerce.

He also called on the company to leverage its advantages in the international aviation logistics industry to convince more logistics enterprises to invest and grow in Guangdong.

Guangdong remains committed to deepening reforms and expanding opening-up to create a world-class, market-oriented business environment governed by a sound legal framework and support enterprises, including FedEx, in their development in the province, Wang said.

Subramaniam shared insights into FedEx's development in Guangdong, congratulating the province on its remarkable achievements in economic and social development.

He expressed his confidence in Guangdong's future development, saying FedEx plans to continue investing in the province.

FedEx is focusing on establishing a South China operational center and upgrading the intelligence of the Asia-Pacific transit center, he said.

FedEx expressed a desire for deeper cooperation with Guangdong to achieve even better outcomes.
