Chen Guangjun meets new Thai consul general to strengthen ties

Chen Guangjun, deputy director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People's Government of Guangdong Province, met with Kajtiti Wiwatwanont, the newly appointed Thai consul general in Guangzhou, on June 5. Chen congratulated Wiwatwanont on his new post.

Chen highlighted that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand. He emphasized China's commitment to the development of Sino-Thai relations in its neighborhood diplomacy and expressed willingness to work with Thailand to deepen cooperation, allowing the fruits of modernization to more fully benefit both regions.

Guangdong, being a major province in China in terms of population, economy, and foreign trade, is also an important partner for Thailand. Chen said that the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office is willing to maintain close contact with the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Guangzhou, utilizing platforms such as the Guangdong-Thailand High-Level Cooperation Conference to strengthen cooperation in various fields, including economy and trade, culture, people-to-people bonds, science and technology, and education.

Wiwatwanont expressed gratitude for the long-term support from the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office and outlined plans to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

He pledged to promote more cooperation and exchange achievements between Thailand and Guangdong in high-level visits, culture and tourism, and medical and health services.
