Guangzhou is set to welcome its first downtown duty-free store on Aug 26 in the Tianhe district. Situated on the first floor of the Guangzhou Friendship Store within the Guangzhou International Finance Center, this innovative retail space will allow outbound international travelers to conveniently purchase duty-free goods in the city center before their trips, eliminating the need to wait until airport departure.

The new store represents a significant milestone in Guangzhou's ambition to establish itself as a global shopping destination. Unlike traditional duty-free shops limited to airports, this urban location brings tax-free shopping directly to the heart of the city's commercial hub. Eligible shoppers include any travelers with confirmed international flight or cruise departures from China within 60 days, including Chinese citizens. The unique shopping model enables customers to browse and order products in-store, with collection available at designated counters in departure zones such as Baiyun International Airport.

As one of China's first eight newly approved downtown duty-free stores, the Guangzhou outlet offers an exceptional retail experience combining both duty-free and tax-refundable commodities. The product range spans international luxury brands, premium Chinese labels, and trendy local designs, featuring everything from high-end cosmetics and watches to premium spirits, electronics, and Chinese-chic products.
